Historic environment baseline studies provided input to the urban design study and spatial planning assessment that informed the Borough’s adopted tall building strategy.

Historic environment baseline complemented townscape and visual studies and followed Historic England guidance on extensive urban survey, setting of heritage assets and the importance of views.

 

Recommendations highlighted a positive role of tall buildings in strengthening urban form and generating spatial relationships that respected and responded to an historic core area currently lacking focus.
